After a long while faffing about with wheel barrows and bags of pellets we finally organised a blown delivery from Harvest Wood Fuels to fill the hoppers of our seven Mescoli woodchip burners. They take about a tonne each. Usage varies widely according to season.
Sanford is the oldest purpose-built housing co-operative in London. Founded in 1973, it has been transformed from a wasteland into a cosy, green and welcoming environment. Our street, Sanford Walk, is home to 125 tenants, living in 14 houses and 6 flats.

Pottery
We picked up an electric throwing wheel, an African style kick wheel, a kiln and a whole load of glazes off of freecycle. These are pictures of our first attempt at throwing. Thanks to Martin the Pot for throwing tips and his help identifying what we have picked up! The equipment has been in storage for the winter. The area where it will live should be finished soon.
What does it mean to live at Sanford?
(The Guardian asked someone to write about Sanford. This is what Nic came up with...)
I first heard of Sanford Housing Co-operative in Lewisham, London in the late 90's from my 6'4" constantly giggling cousin who had once lived in a lay-by in an ambulance in Amsterdam and in turn heard of it whilst living in a co-op in Brighton. "Come down," she said, "it's not normal." "You'll love it." Eighteen months later, in a bid to limit the chances of flipping burgers in the provinces for the rest of my life I did just that and moved temporarily to South East London. After sofa surfing in her kitchen for a few weeks I decided to stay.

Recycle Stage Project
For years there were bicycles everywhere tied to trees, in hallways and perched on staircases. This was the solution to our problem designed by Christos Choraitis and made by the members.
